Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Nicholas Gleason's Mutant abilities manifested at a very young age, transforming him into his wolf-like state as a child. Despite this, his parents still saw them as their son rather than a freak of nature. After his parents died when he was thirteen years old, he was left to fend for himself and was targeted by two humans with mechanical enhancements. The two tried to kill him because he was a mutant, but he managed to escape. With nowhere else to turn to and anti-mutant activists on his metaphorical tail, Nick took to the streets and did his best to lay low and survive, taking whatever he could when he could. Through his life on the streets, he came to know the darkest depths of crime first-hand, not to mention taking a few close calls with various gangs and more anti-mutant activists. For the past 3 years, he honed his already keen senses and survival skills, making sure to get by and hoping that something would happen to pull him away from the streets.
Idealist
Nick views heroes as something to aspire towards, but perhaps out of reach of him at the moment. While he still hopes to do the right thing, he tends to think of survival first in cases where it would clash. Most of the time, however, he doesn't cut corners that put innocent people at risk. But one rule he never breaks, no matter what? Heroes never kill.
Short Temper
Nick has a short temper, no doubt about it. Whenever he gets sufficiently angry or aggravated, Nick is at risk of lapsing into a sort of berserk rage, lashing out at friend and foe alike. It can take quite a bit to calm him down at times, too.
Loyal
Nick takes his alleigances very seriously. If he puts his trust in someone, he would put his life on the line for them without thinking twice. So long as people don't betray that trust, of course, though even then, he can be quick to forgive in some cases.
Teenager
Simply put, Nick is young. He doesn't quite have the experience of age behind him, and it shows. He even acts a few years younger than he actually is, not to mention coming across as a bit gulliable at times. Top it off with his short temper, and you get quite the problem teen…
Permanent Half-Wolf Form
Nick's mutations, having started at a young age, have progressed and evolved to the point where he is now half-man and half-wolf. Aside from the obvious mutations of body features and fur, he also has razor-sharp claws and teeth, allowing him to slash at enemies and tear them to shreds, if he so wishes. He doesn't have much extra in the way of physical strength, though, being just as strong as any other teenager, but slashing rather than punching does have its benefits.
Enhanced Senses
As part of Nick's lupine mutations, his senses have been enhanced quite a bit. He is able to hear things beyond the normal range of hearing for humans, not to mention his hearing and sense of smell have both been empowered, allowing him to sniff out ambushes, track by a faint scent or eavesdrop on conversations though a wall. Even his sight is somewhat sharper, though not to the same level as his other senses.
Enhanced Agility
Nick's reflexes are also somewhat quicker, allowing him to move, bob and weave slightly quicker than a normal human.
Hand To Hand
Nick knows enough in regards to hand-to-hand combat, using his claws well enough to injure and incapacitate. Though he has the capacity to kill, he tends not to.
Intimidation
When you have sharp claws and teeth, you tend to be able to intimidate people naturally. While no expert, Nick can certainly put the pressure on and scare information out of people in a pinch.
Gangs
Given his time on the streets, Nick learned to pick up the names of gangs and gang-members. While he never actively joined any, he can put an ear to the ground and pick out names of people to scare for information.
Urban Survival
If there's one thing Nick knows, it's how to get by on the streets. Where to hide, where people gather, where to steal food from… If money ever stops being legal tender, Nick's set to get by.
Berserker Rage
Nick is quite prone to lapse into a berserker rage, lashing out at friend and foe alike when angry enough. Simple arguments can devolve into fisticuffs quickly, sometimes with disasterous consequences. It can even be difficult to pull him out of these rages, at times, as he throws all other concerns to the wind as he uncontrollably focusses on beating seven shades out of whatever annoyed him.
Permanent Beast
Disguises for Nick aren't as easy as throwing on a change of clothes, glasses and dying his hair. In fact, it's kind of hard. He stands out like a sore thumb at all times and generally can't hide without the help of holographic disguises. On top of that, it's pretty easy to track Wolf Cub's heroing back to Nick, and Nick's antics back to Wolf Cub. Lastly, he can't change form at all, stuck as he is and continuing to mutate further with age.
Life On The Streets
Simply put, Nick didn't make many friends during his few years roughing it on the streets, and few cared much for 'that hairy mutie kid' from doing the odd bit of vigilantism. Naturally, people in the world Nick lived in tended to take quite serious offense to it. Enough to possibly start trying to track him down and take revenge, granting him a rogues gallery of… rogues. Thugs, drug-dealers, pimps, hitmen… In a few rare cases, even the best and brightest of the bottom of the barrel. Whether they're out for words or out for blood? That's a very good question…
Hunted
From far in Nick's past, there's a couple of mechanically-enhanced humans who have an unfinished score to settle with Nick. Having managed to escape them before, the mysterious duo might not want to give him a second chance to slip the net…
