- As an albino in a public school in Harlem, Lonnie Lincoln didn't have an especially pleasant childhood. He was frequently bullied, but by the time he was in highschool he had grown abnormally large, and was the one doing the bullying.
- His only friend in school was Joe Robertson. Lonnie's idea of 'friendship' involved bullying Joe.
- Lonnie never finished highschool. Instead he got more seriously involved in crime. He started doing petty robberies and getting into street fights. In order to make himself scarier, he filed his teeth to points and began calling himself Tombstone. Eventually he had established enough of a reputation that he was hired as muscle by a prominent gang member in Philadelphia. It was during this time that he killed a local mob boss. Joe Robertson, now a reporter, received a call from an informant about the killing and came to Philadelphia hoping to break the story. However, when he arrived, he found the informant dead. Robertson was so scared by this incident, that he didn't tell anyone about Tombstone's activities for years.
- Tombstone got arrested multiple times, but never for anything too serious. Anytime he was brought in on serious charges the witnesses would always disappear or change their stories. He moved back to New York, and started working as a hitman/goon for the Kingpin.
- Robertson began working at the Daily Bugle as an assistant editor. He watched from afar as Tombstone continued to get away with murder. After years of sitting on evidence, his conscience got the best of him and he created a disc that contained all of his knowledge and evidence about Tombstone's criminal activities. However, he didn't turn it in to anyone.
- Robertson confronted Tombstone. Tombstone broke Robertson's back.
- Unfortunately, the recording ended up with Peter Parker, the Amazing Spider-Man. Tombstone attempted to force Parker to give him the disc, and even went so far as to beat up Spider-Man's wife Mary Jane. This didn't work out too well for Tombstone, as Spider-Man just beat him up and turned him over to the authorities.
- Robertson recovered just in time for Tombstone's trial. During his trial, Tombstone testified against Robertson, and Robertson was convicted of being an accessory to murder. They were sent to the same prison.
- The prison thing didn't stick for very long. Tombstone broke out, and took his BFF Robertson with him. Robertson was able to stay out of prison by getting a good lawyer. Tombstone went back to working for the Kingpin.
- While trying to keep his head down, Tombstone decided to kill Joe Robertson. He chose the Osborn Chemical Plant as the location, and planted some information so that Robertson would investigate the trap. As luck would have it, Spider-Man intervened again, along with the Molten Man and the Harry Osborn version of the Green Goblin. In the ensuing scuffle Robertson shot Tombstone. With nowhere else to hide, Tombstone took refuge in a room full of one of Norman Osborn's experimental chemicals, Diox-3. The exposure changed Tombstone's physiology, making him extremely durable and strong.
- Tombstone's next move was to take over Hammerhead's criminal enterprises. After beating up on Hammerhead, he called up Robertson and arranged a meeting at Hammerhead's mansion. Robertson of course informed Spider-Man. However, Tombstone had no interest in harming his old pal. Instead, he thanked Robertson for shooting him, as this had made him much more powerful. As far as Tombstone was concerned, the two were 'even'. Even so, Spider-Man showed up and he and Tombstone fought again. This time, the outcome was very different, as Tombstone seemed to be invulnerable. With a little help from Hammerhead, there was a massive explosion which destroyed the mansion, and seemed to have killed Tombstone.
- Of course, Tombstone survived. He immediately started doing supervillainy things again, and started clashing with the new superhero Darkhawk. Tombstone wanted Darkhawk's amulet in order to become even more powerful. He suceeded in taking the amulet from Darkhawk, but was ultimately defeated with the help of some of Darkhawk's buddies.
- Tombstone is still at large, and with the disappearance of the Kingpin, he's decided to seize the opportunity to expand his criminal interests.
Bully: Lonnie was bullied as a kid, and came to associate bullying with power. He enjoys pushing people around, and more often then not will attempt to use threats or brute force to get his way before he tries any type of subtler tactic.
Freak: When someone is constantly reminded that they are a freak, they eventually accept it. Such was the case with Lonnie when he eventually started going by Tombstone and filed his teeth to points. He spent a lot of time regretting his freakish appearance and wishing that he were more handsome, or at least more normal. By the time he reached his late teens, he had fully embraced his looks and grown to enjoy the psychological effect that his freakishness has on others. Looking like the villain from a horror movie isn't always bad.
Sadistic: Tombstone isn't a full-blown psychopath, but he does legitimately like causing people pain. When doing hit jobs, he rarely kills a person outright. Instead, he usually plays with his victims for a while. This is partly a survival mechanism, as his ruthless reputation is what has made him so successful as a criminal.
Loyal: Possibly his only redeeming personality trait, Tombstone is very loyal to those he works with and to people that he considers friends. His idea of friendship is very different from most people's, and he's really only ever had one person that he considers a friend. However, his loyalty prevented him from killing his friend even when it would have kept him out of prison. He is also loyal to the people that he works for and with. As long as people do right by him, he usually doesn't try to hurt them. His loyalty has limits though. Any time he feels that he has been betrayed he grows extremely vindictive, and usually homicidal. He also isn't above bullying, extorting, or even maiming friends of his if it is in his best interest to do so.
Power-Hungry: Ever since he was exposed to Diox-3, new opportunities have started opening up for Tombstone. He is now a legitimate threat to most superheroes, particularly the ones who concern themselves with what's going on on the streets. However, power is extremely addictive, and he finds himself wanting more. He needs more henchmen, more money, more weaponry, but most of all, he needs more superpowers. Even if he has to steal a really lame trinket like Darkhawk's talisman to get it.
Expensive Tastes: Tombstone is from a poor background. Now that he has money to burn, he likes to buy things that are overpriced. This helps to compensate for his ugliness on some level, but it also shows the world that he is an important man with good taste. He doesn't know the best wine to order at a fancy restaurant, or what makes a certain type of caviar better than another. He simply gets whatever is most expensive.
DIOX-3: The experimental chemical Diox-3 granted Tombstone a relatively generic set of abilities. He is superhumanly strong, capable of lifting about six tons. His stamina has been greatly increased, which makes him seem virtually tireless in a fight. He can engage in extremely challenging physical labor for almost an entire day before exhaustion sets in.
The most noteworthy boost to his abilities is the superhuman durability he has received. According to Tombstone, his skin is as tough as diamonds, but this isn't exactly accurate. Still, he is durable enough to be completely invulnerable to high-caliber machine gun fire, he has survived very powerful explosions, and knives have broken in assailants' hands when they try to stab Tombstone. He is able to shrug off multiple punches from Spider-Man, which often have about ten tons of force behind them. However, his eyes are not as invulnerable as the rest of his body. In fact, his entire face seems to be less resistant to damage. Still, nothing has managed to puncture his skin or break any of his bones yet.
STREET FIGHTING: For over twenty years, Tombstone has been beating people up in the streets. He has participated in many illegal fighting rings, and has honed his skill the hard way: by getting punched in the face a lot. Over the years, he has incorporated little bits of various fighting disciplines into his repertoire, but he mostly just uses his overwhelming size and strength to get the job done. Since his exposure to Diox-3 he has had less reason to fight in a careful fashion, which has made him a bit sloppy. Still, he's more skilled than anyone his size has any right to be.
GUNS: Not an expert marksman by any means, Tombstone is nevertheless familiar with a variety of guns. Even after becoming invulnerable he still carries a gun with him almost everywhere, and he still shoots people with enough regularity that he has to keep replacing his guns. He has most likely used any weapon that is commonly available to the public, or commonly available to criminals. He can also conduct basic repairs on firearms, but is far from a certified gunsmith. As far as accuracy goes, he is slightly more likely to hit a target than the average veteran police officer.
MANAGEMENT: Throughout his career, Tombstone has mostly been hired muscle. However, he has familiar enough with the workings of criminal operations that he is capable of running his own gang very effectively. He works mainly for himself now, and his criminal base has expanded, but he hasn't lost control yet.
INTIMIDATION: When you're an ugly albino giant with filed-down teeth, getting people to do what you want is often surprisingly easy. Tombstone knows the effect that his appearance has on people, and uses it often to great effect. When that doesn't work for him, he knows how to apply pain or threats to get the job done. On the rare occasions that that doesn't work, he isn't above burning someone's house down or killing their family. He has a reputation for being merciless and sadistic, so he gets his way more often then not.
FORENSICS: Tombstone has managed to avoid getting pinned for murder a whole bunch of times. He's done this mostly through intimidating witnesses, but he also knows enough about forensics that he rarely leaves behind enough evidence for a conviction. When doing high-profile jobs he will sometimes have one of his henchmen 'clean' the crime scene, which usually works well enough to keep him out of prison, even if he's called in for questioning.
TACTICS: Tombstone isn't just a dumb thug. He's occasionally proven himself capable of out-thinking his opponents. He's set ambushes for Spider-Man, stormed Hammerhead's heavily-reinforced mansion, broken into the Osborn Chemical Plant, and done numerous hitjobs without being caught or killed. He often uses the element of surprise, either by misdirecting his opponent into attacking him, or setting a careful trap. When that fails, he usually just tries to use overwhelming force.
MONEY: Tombstone is a poor financial planner, but he has a constant cashflow courtesy of his various criminal enterprises. He gets a lot of this money laundered, and is able to go out in public and spend large amounts of money without the feds being able to do anything about it. Even though no one is fooled, he hasn't gone to jail yet for any money-related crime. In the meantime, he drives expensive cars and wears tailored suits.
HENCHMEN: The Kinpin's abscence from the criminal scene has left a lot of would-be gangsters unemployed. Many of these men have come to work for Tombstone. Tombstone has a full-scale criminal operation which he is currently attempting to expand. Many of the crooks that he inherited are highly-skilled in some area of crookery or another, or have contacts of their own. This enables him to pull of impressive heists, bribe policemen, get tipped off before a potential raid, have his crime scenes cleaned up, and find all sorts of information that Google doesn't provide. His mob is also capable of providing him with lots of cheap firearms, and places to hide when he needs to lay low.
SCARY: Imagine if an albino who was 6'7" and weighed 460 lbs. came knocking on your door and demanded some money. Now imagine that his teeth are filed to points and he looks like a shark. Tombstone's appearance has a very powerful psychological effect on everyone who sees him, and this usually makes his work much easier.
SPEED: Despite being huge, many of Tombstone's opponenents have noticed that Tombstone is deceptively fast. He's capable of moving more quickly than a man his size should, and his agility is also disproportionate to his bulk. Neither of these traits is superhuman, or even peak human, but it's definitely worth noting.
UGLY: Most of Tombstone's problems can be traced back to the fact that he was born ugly. It's very likely that he would have turned out competely different if he looked more normal. His ugliness prevents him from ever having a truly normal life, especially now that he has made himself even uglier. This isn't really the best time to look different. Fear of mutants is still very high, and Tombstone's demonic visage marks him as being different. If he didn't have his henchman as a buffer, he'd probably have to spend a lot of his time each day dealing with anti-mutant sentiment or possibly even attacks from anti-mutant groups. His distinctive image also makes it pretty much impossible for him to hide in plain sight. He gets noticed everywhere he goes, which means he has to take drastic measures to escape detection when he's wanted for a crime or attempting to hide from a rival.
FACE: Tombstone's body is highly resistant to damage. His face is also highly resistant, but not as much as the rest of his body. It takes over ten tons of force to damage his face, but that's significantly less force than it takes to damage him anywhere else. Also, his eyes are especially vulnerable. It isn't known for sure if a bullet could destroy his eyes, but it's surely within the realm of possibility. Additionally, irritants can cause him all kinds of grief, such as temporary blindness. When things get into his eyes, he gets as incapacitated as the next guy.
BODIES: Tombstone has killed a lot of people over the years. He's been able to avoid prosecution for nearly all of his crimes, but there's no statute of limitation on murder. If witnesses were ever to change their minds and come forward, or if any of the bodies he's buried were ever to be found, there's no telling what sort of complications this might have for Tombstone. Very likely, he'd spend the rest of his life rotting on The Raft.
ENEMIES: Virtually every crimefighter who works on the street level knows who Tombstone is. He's attracted the attention of Spider-Man and the Punisher, and god knows who else. Additionally, his bid for power has put him at odds with every other criminal outfit that's trying to fill the Kingpin's shoes, which means that he's got way more enemies than he has friends.
