Character Details
- Nori was born in Tokyo, Japan to Seiji and Suki Ashida. She has one sibling, her brother Keitaro whom she was close to.
- When she was 13, Nori's mutant abilities manifested, causing electricity to behave erratically around her. She had absolutely no control over this ability at first, sometimes causing sparks to erupt around her as she discharged electrical currents.
- When she tried to tell her father, he claimed he didn't believe in mutants, and acted as if she'd never brought the subject up. A few days later, during which her father didn't speak to her at all, Nori stole a large some of money from her parents' bank accounts and fled. She caught a plane to New York. "I don't believe in mutants," was the last thing Nori ever heard from her father.
- Winding up in Salem Center, New York, Nori lived on the streets for a time, living a brief life of crime to support herself and obtain the prescription drugs she needed to subdue her power.
- Later, she had a serious power discharge, harming the waitress of a cafe, which was seen by some students from Xavier's. She ran away from the cafe.
- A few days later, some of the students, who'd been looking for her saw her purchasing drugs, and thinking that was the cause of the problems with her power, took them from her. They were proved wrong, when her power started to get even farther out of hand than in the cafe. They subdued her, and took her home to Xavier's.
- Shortly after being taken in, Forge designed a pair of special gauntlets for Nori, which allowed her some form of control over her ability.
- Nori was withdrawn at first, having never spent any time around people like herself before, but she quickly formed strong bonds with many people at the school.
- Nori wasn't the smartest student, or the most popular, but she quickly showed herself to be a charismatic, and competent leader, in any and all of the group activities at the school, earning the faculty's eye.
- Shortly after graduating from Xavier's school at the high school level, the explosion happened.
- When everyone scattered, Nori ended up in New York City, finding a coffeeshop whose owner was more than accepting of mutants, and took her in, offering her a job. She's been in the city ever since, keeping a low profile. Noriko was contacted when the school was rebuilt and reopened, she said she wanted some time and has yet to make a decision regarding her future.
