Character Details
- The Stepford Cuckoos were made from genetic material stolen from Emma Frost and an unknown male donor using the resources of Shaw Industries. The Five-in-One are subjected to implanted memories through simulations and accelerated aging by Sebastian Shaw, convincing them that they were adopted at a young age by the Black King.
- Introduced to the Inner Circle when their powers manifested, the Cuckoos came under mentorship of Emma Frost, learning to control these abilities.
- At Shaw's orders, the Cuckoos begin a psychic attack on the X-Mansion with Emma Frost, intending to disable Xavier and the X-Men so as to leave with Jean Grey. Sensing it, Jean transforms into the Phoenix to stop them and knocks everyone unconcious and destroys the mansion
- The Cuckoos help Emma Frost transport Charles Xavier to the coast of Genosha after waking up before everyone else at the assault of the mansion.
- Again at the orders of the Inner Circle, the Cuckoos participate in another assault of the mansion after the X-Men recover Jean Grey, successfully sending them unconcious and retreating with the telepath by helicopter
- The Cuckoos gain access to the Phoenix and extract it from Jean Grey, barely containing it within themselves. They are ordered by Shaw to destroy the Sentinels, X-Men and Genosha. They leave to apparently follow through with these orders, only stopped by Emma Frost absorbing the Phoenix into herself.
- Seeing the White Queen shattered on awakening, the Five-in-One tap into the last of the Force and revive her, weakening themselves to a state where it appears that they've lost their mutant powers.
- Slowly, they recover. Finding Emma Frost has joined the X-Men, they petition to follow their mentor, though it isn't all their idea. The Black King, Shaw, has ordered his pawns to keep tabs on the X-Men and primarily the ex-White Queen.
