Character Details
- Born to Erik Lehnsherr and Magda, twin to Pietro. Magda fled from her husband's display of powers and the twins were born on Mount Wundagore in Transia. The essence of Chthon touched Wanda during her birth.
- As Magda died in their birth, Wanda and Pietro were raised by Bova, an evolved cow, until she gave them to Django and Marya Maximoff, a Gypsy couple, and raised as their children.
- Overly sheltered and protected by Pietro, Wanda aroused the suspicions of superstitious villagers, and they would have been killed if not for the ironic rescue by their own father, unbeknownst to all three parties.
- Trained and doing missions with Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, both twins were reluctant to become criminals, Wanda more than Pietro, but Magneto kept reminding them how he saved their lives.
- Eventually, they escaped when Magneto was taken out of the picture, and Wanda was also grateful the lascivious Toad was as well. She and Pietro returned to Europe until the Avengers held a membership drive.
- Early years in the Avengers saw the former 'evil' mutants changing the public and other heroes' viewpoints of their own reputations due to their heroic actions.
- Wanda and Pietro's powers started weakening and they returned to Europe, only to be approached by Magneto to rejoin them. Wanda declined and was injured, but Pietro accepted, the twins working with their father until he was once more removed from the picture.
- During an adventure on Polemachus, Wanda's powers are restored.
- Wanda meets the Vision and is soon attracted to him, much to her brother's offense. The Vision admitted his reciprocated feelings, but that he didn't feel he could act on them because he was a synthezoid.
- Wanda and the Vision dealt with others trying to interfere with their burgeoning relationship, and a rift grew between Wanda and her brother because he couldn't accept their love.
- When their relationship went public, Wanda and the Vision had to deal with the backlash and human bigotry.
- Wanda and Pietro are told that Robert Frank was their father, and Wanda started using his last name. Wanda also meets Agatha Harkness, who begins Wanda's formal magical training.
- After the Vision stops showing an attraction to Mantis and their relationship resumes properly, Wanda and the Vision get married and go on honeymoon.
- Wonder Man is once more found alive, and this puts strain on Wanda and the Vision's marriage, as the Vision was originally created with Simon's brain patterns. Eric, Simon's brother, now the Grim Reaper, puts them on trial to see whether the Vision or Simon should be permitted to live.
- Wanda and Pietro go back to Europe with Django Maximoff, and Wanda is possessed by Chthon. During the battle, Django is killed, but Chthon is defeated.
- When Carol Danvers returns to the Avengers, pregnant, and eventually leaves again, Wanda had worried for their friend but didn't speak up, a fact that would lead to a lingering regret when Carol returns again, no longer pregnant and with a horrific story to tell.
- Wanda and the Vision buy a house in New Jersey and attempt to live a normal life. During an adventure that would lead them to Attilan on the moon with Pietro allowing the Vision to hold his daughter Luna, Magneto arrives and announces that he's Wanda and Pietro's father. The twins rejected their father, but could not pretend the truth didn't exist.
- The Vision was injured by an energy barrier, and during his recovery, he interfaced with an AI called ISAAC, leading to his plans to found a West Coast branch of the Avengers.
- As part of the WCA, Wanda had yet another tussle with Simon's brother about Simon and the Vision and who was the real Williams son.
- After a magical fight, and prompted by a question from the Vision, Wanda conceived in what was later termed a hysterical pregnancy.
- Wanda and the Vision moved back home to Leonia, where she gave birth to twin boys: William and Thomas.
- After the Vision was disassembled and his mind erased, Wanda loathed Simon, who refused to allow his mental imprint to be used to restore the Vision.
- The truth about Wanda's children is revealed, and her memory is erased, making her go crazy and hateful, especially after the rebuilt and emotionless Vision returned to the main Avengers team.
- Wanda rejoins her father in evil and is revealed to be a nexus being.
- After being freed, she has a brief affair with Simon but realizes he's too much like the Vision.
- She takes on the chair of the WCA and a rather disastrous series of events occur that lead to the dissolution of the WCA and the creation of Force Works.
- Eventually, she returns to the Avengers and resumes a friendship with the Vision.
