- Born in Sydney, Australia.
- Pyro got into trouble at school by picking fights with bigger kids. He channeled his aggression through wrestling. He also got heavily involved in the school paper in high school.
- Discovered his pyrotechnic abilities while lighting up a juvenile cigarette in his friend's back shed. He lost control of the flame and burned the shed down. The incident earned him the nickname 'Pyro.'
- He hid his ability from most everyone and got accepted to journalism school.
- Went on an exchange in his third year to a journalism school in New York. There, he met other mutants and started getting into trouble. He started believing that mutants were better than regular people.
- After his exchange was over, he flew back to Sydney to complete his degree, but returned to the US soon after to meet up with his friends again.
- He worked as a gofer who wrote the occasional article for a small paper, while running with his friends at night. His articles had a decidedly pro-mutant slant which got him into trouble and brought him to the attention of both other like-minded mutants and the MRD.
- Ends up arrested for torching an anti-mutant protest building. Pyro's imprisoned by the MRD for two months before he's busted out by Wolverine.
- With nowhere left to go and with the MRD on his tail, Pyro makes his way to Genosha.
- Pyro finds that many of his ideals jives with Magneto. He becomes a soldier and starts going on missions for him.
- When the Sentinels attack Genosha, Pyro fought alongside the other mutants to protect himself. When he discovered that Magneto was behind the attack, he sided with Wanda and decided to remain on Genosha.
- Given time to think about it, and bored from a lack of action on Genosha, Pyro began to reconsider his decision to stay. He started to understand what Magneto was on about. Although he felt betrayed, in the end he decided to leave Genosha with Magneto when he returned to collect those loyal to him. He now fully believes in Magneto's version of world order, and has decided that the way to ensure he has a place in that world (and not just canon fodder or a regrettable but necessary death) is to prove both his allegiance and usefulness to the cause and the Brotherhood.
