Log:
SHIP intones, "X-Factor, your presence is requested at Niagara Falls. Prepare for Body Slide."

Havok intones over the com, "Everybody, suit up. There's a situation in Niagara. All we've got on the ticker is Omega Flight and Department H is not responding."

Getting the message from SHIP, then Havok, Nightcrawler pulls at the sweats his wearing. Tada, snap pants and shirt, they tear away and he's in his standard fair of black body suit, with red borat style over swimsuit thingy, with accompaniments of white boots

gloves and pointy sholder things.

"American side or Canadian side?" Mirage questions over the comm system. Still on winter break from the school she has been at the Tower for most of the vacation, except for the few days she went out to the mid-west. Most of that time she has spent relaxing by the pool or in the training deck. In this case it was the later so she doesn't have to do much in preparation for the mission.

"American." responds Havok and he announces, "Body slide in, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1..."

The roar of the falls is quite audible as the team finds themselves on a concrete observation deck that stretches scores of yards in both directions. There are 15 hostages all cowering with their backs to a concrete building and are faced by a shiny silver robotic female (much like Jocasta - but Delphine Courtney (who is assumed dead for a few years)). Behind Courtney is Diamond Lil (standing just over 6' and quite menacing toward the hostages). Courtney's right hand is raised toward the hostages and it has a reddish glow about it.

Just behind and above the team, they will hear a growl and then Wildchild yell, "We've got company!" before leaping to attack (but guess who goes first).

Near another building (200 yards away) is Smart Alec who is jacked into a console on a security door (that will descend into the bowels of the falls and next to him is Flashback."

Havok twists around and up to spy the descending/attacking Wildchild, he clasps his hands together and blasts Wildchild up and back toward the falls. Wildchild will grab a railing and not go into the drink, but he's quite blasted.

Havok will then yell, "Nightcrawler, take down Flashback. Mirage, you're one Diamond Lil!" Havok will then fire at Delphine Courtney (robot) who will turn and hold up the glowing hand which will deflect Havok's blast.

Not knowing what they are going to be 'landing' in the middle of, Mirage was already prepared with bow in hand pre-body slide. While she didn't know what to expect when they arrived, Omega Flight holding hostages certainly wasn't at the top of her list, if it was on it at all. Surprise has to wait though as training in dealing with these situations takes over.

Enemies and innocents are located and threat levels established within moments of arrival. As Havok blasts at Wildchild, Mirage brings her bow up and in line to fire at Diamond Lil, the psychic arrow manifesting in the time it takes for her to aim and fire.

Delphine Courney makes a fist with the glowing hand and it blasts back toward Havok. It misses, and she then fires another and chews up the concrete to his right.

Lil starts to turn and launch herself toward Mirage, but she's struck by the arrow - she drops to the ground - unconscious.

Several yards away, Smart Alec grabs his head and yells like he's in pain.

Flashback is suddenly duplicated with 6 other targets in the general area. 4 of them appear half way between his location and that of Delphine's. 2 appear next to him.

Taking his cue from Havok, Kurt spends a moment looking over the siuation to spot Flashback to begin with. This causes a slight delay in his reaction, which sadly means Flashback will most likely have some duplicates up. He'll quickly port into the midst of them, attack the nearest to where he arrives (somewhere between Delphine and Flashback hopefully), then port to the next and do the same. He won't hold back any punches, not that he packs a ton of heat in his guns but still (port, attack, port, attack).

The two duplicates that are hit are knocked back into a railing and into a stone wall. The other two lunge to attack, but Kurt has the init.

Havok notes the two shots taken by Delphine and he decides that his line of sight is too dangerous for the hostages. He leaps to the right and will get a better angle to fire again. Both attacks launch into Delphine and strike true. They knock her into a concession building and the force of the attack was significant enough to score and even slag some of her outer shell. She yells, "Damn you Havok, this is a new body!"

Hopefully on a roll, Kurt hucks a fist at both of the nearby Flashbacks, then ports over to the group with hopefully the original Flashback. He tries to swing at him as well, if he can distinguish between the three there.

Delphine returns the attack from Havok and knocks him back a few feet. The attack is energy in nature and hurt such that Havok called out in pain with a long grunt.

Wildchild manages to right himself and then leaps to Mirage's location. He growls and lashes out at her from his crouched position. The first attack is deflected by her armor (doing no damage to it), however the second attack rends her chest/stomach piece and exposes a lot of vulnerable flesh. He's in hand to hand range and if this were D&D, if she tried to use her bow, she would take an attack of opportunity - but it's not. So she can attack without issue. Though, it should be noted, her chest/stomach is vulnerable to the next attack.

The four 'Flashbacks' around Nightcrawler attack and three are successful at doing typical/6 damage each - which does not get through his armor.

Alec recovers and says to Flashback, "Keep them busy for 4 more seconds."

Yes, You may have to tap in though soon, I don't think I am going to be standing much longer.

With Diamond Lil down and two of the others being dealt with by the guys, Mirage draws a bead on Smart Alec. She has no clue what he is doing, but she is pretty sure it isn't good, whatever it is. At the first attack from the recovered Wild Child the bow is knocked from her hands so she starts to dive into his mind to pull his fears for his viewing pleasure only to be struck again. This time the pain pf the attack makes her not only loss concentration on what she was doing but makes her stumble backwards against the railing.

Seeing how Mirage is in melee and knowing that her bow is out of her hand, Havok thinks that he should do something. He's in a good amount of pain from Delphine's energy blast and that throws off his aim. He fires two plasma blasts toward Wildchild and completely misses on both counts.

Delphine has already decided on her next course of action - move, and she starts heading eastward toward Alec and all the Flashbacks. In route, she launches another attack at Havok, striking him once again and dropping him to one knee due to the damage dealt.

The door Alec was working on unlocks and opens. He darts inside.

Flashback dupes around Kurt strike him 1 out of 4 more times - again no damage or stun taken but he's knocked back three feet from the last attack actually hitting.

Wildchild attacks once again toward Mirage's exposed midsection. The first strike hits her arm (10 points of damage) while the second does more damage to her midsection (30 points).

The main Flashback and his two dupes run into the door with Alec

As his target darts into the door with Alec, Nightcrawler decides he must give pursuit. Even as he is regaining his footing and bamfing towards the door opening, he calls into his intercom. "I'm going in," to inform the team of his intent. He won't run in blindly, but glance in, if he sees his targets, he'll port after the first dupe he sees and swing, otherwise, if he doesn't he'll proceed hesitantly cautious.

There is a long hallway into the side of the hill with several branches. Kurt will definitely see two of the Flashbacks running down the hallway. Everyone else has branched already.

Another couple of hits from Wildchild knocks Mirage backward over the railing. Thankfully on the American side of the falls there is a good couple of feet of grass/brush covered ground before there is a sharp tree covered slope down to the churning waters below.

One arm to her torn up midsection Mirage picks herself up, using the rail for an assist. Her eyes focus on Wildchild once more as she goes into his mind to pull the fears out and throw them at him.

Wildchild screams as images of being tortured come into view. He sees the 'dark figure' that's known to most as 'The Director' (guy running Neverland) looming over him. Wildchild cowers and will lose this round.

On his left knee, Havok is still shaken by the energy attacks from Delphine. He watches Mirage go over the railing and as he stands to rush her way, he misfires his blast into the concrete directly in front of him - thus blasting himself back and over the railing and into the tormented waters below.

The four flashbacks divide, two rush with Delphine to the door that Alec entered, the other two break and one rushes toward the railing that Havok went over, the other toward the railing that Mirage went over.

Delphine is able to make the door to see Kurt's backside, and do nothing else.

The dupe that Kurt missed turns and strikes Kurt - again no damage dealt. The other nearby dupe swings but misses.

Not knowing others are coming his way as of yet, Kurt focuses ahead of him. Assuming the two staying to fight are still just dupes, he's going to port a head of them and attempt to catch up with the real Flashback and Alec, or at least begin tailing them. He'll teleport forward as necessary dependent on line of sight.

Kurt is able to catch sight of Flashback and Alec entering a room down another corridor.

Noticing the room, Kurt will teleport to the room and enter it, unless the quickly locked it for some reason.

With her injuries there won't be any rail vaulting from Mirage. She ignores whatever Wildchild is going through so Havok going over the edge is not missed. She let's out a terrified cry, though mentally she calls for Brightwind, hoping the pegasus can get here quick enough to catch the falling man before he hits the water.

Kurt appears in front of a closing door made of sheet metal. Flashback is attempting to close it.

Kurt will kick the door in an attempt to keep it open and go inside himself.

Havok hits the water, starts swimming.

Flashback slams the door shut.

Alec is inside moving to a control terminal. There are three engineers in the room who do not put up a fight. They start backing away as instructed by Alec.

Delphine enters the tunnels and will be linking up with the other two flashback dupes to round the corner and spy Kurt.

Wildchild comes out of his hallucination and roars. He moves to the railing to look down at Mirage, he says, "Give me your hand!" reaching down to try and help her up.

Diamond Lil remains on the ground.

Brightwind swoops down.

Mirage is reasonably confused, first Wildchild is trying to gut her and now he is trying to help her, she isn't buying it. Even with the drop behind her, she feels safer on this side of the railing. "What's going on?" she asks amidst her confusion of the situtation.

Brightwind has priorities and since the XF leader is conscious and in no danger of drowning, she banks around to go to the side of her valkyrie mistress.

With a bamf, some purple smoke and a hint of sulfur in the air, Kurt is on the other side of the door, letting Delpine and company deal with reopening it. That part taken care of, he's swinging at the closest figure - Flashback dupes, Flashback, or Alec. If he spots Alec going to mess with the controls, he'll teleport and punch him just the same. (teleport, punch (at dupes?), teleport, punch (Alec)

Kurt also shouts, "Stop," towards Alec, not knowing what he's doing or trying to do.

The first dupe is knocked across the room and stunned. Kurt ports to Alec and strikes; Alec is knocked against the far wall with significant force, enough to knock the wind out of, and stun him.

Wildchild responds, "I got no idea what's going on; but you're Mirage and about to fall. So gimmie your hand!"

Havok swims to the nearby shore downstream. He announces over the waterproof com, "I'm alright, what's everyone's status?"

With a port back to the door, Kurt throws the lock if there is one, shouting at Flashback and Alec, "Halt, nicht mehr - no more!" He eyes, if anyone moves, he uses the remainder of his action to port and punch them as well. Into the comsys Kurt calls, "I got them trying to damage the engineering ...." His voice may indicate he's in the middle of action possibly. (teleport, lock door, hold remaining two to stop any bad guys that try to move)

Flashback doesn't halt, he leaps over a bank of computers and heads directly for Kurt with the intent of punching. The punch is landed and will punch with enough force to stun kurt (for 1 round). "I think not!" yells Flashback.

Delphine & company reach the door and start trying to open it. It's likely she will blast her way through in the next round.

Wildchild reaches, trying to help.

Diamond Lil is still zzzzzzzzzzzing.

Having no room to land on Mirage's side of the railing, Brightwind land next to Wildchild, her confusion of the man's action is obvious to anyone that knows horse body language, something she is picking up from her mistress no doubt. She's ready to take action though should the Omega Flight member intend harm.

Mirage is in no condition to argue or get over the railing without assistance, not with her injuries at least. Giving Wildchild a looking of warning she takes his hand and allows him to help her over. At some point in that she will reply back over the comm "Alive."

Wildchild pulls Mirage up and over the railing, does not attack. He then looks around to see the Flashback dupe rushing their way (will be in hand to hand in the next round).

Havok continues to scramble up the side of the cliff with little success.

The Flashback Dupe that was rushing up behind Wildchild tries to attack Mirage but it is blocked by Wildchild who then knocks the dupe back several yards, "Hey, cut it out! She's a friend!" yell's Wildchild.

The door that Kurt locked is blasted inward by the powerful red energy that is emitted by Delphine who stands just outside the door. The four flashback dupes rush into the room looking for Kurt.

Alec and the main Flashback are still stunned (not unconscious).

Lil is still down for 2 more rounds.

Once over the rail, Mirage will just give WC a dubious nod, she isn't quite up to thanking him since its his fault she went over the rail in the first place. She turns at the sudden commotion of the attack. /Friend? With friends like Wildchild, who needs enemies./ is her first thought at the counter attack. That she does thank him for. If the background noise over the comm were any indication, NC could probably use more help at the moment, being in a scuffle and outnumbered. "I'm assuming than that some of these people aren't your friends." its more of a statement than a question.

Turning to the pegasus, she forces her own agenda onto Brightwind, to guard the entrance to the building, should Lil get back up and go after them, since the pegasus isn't going to be able to fit easily through the door.

"Come on." Mirage says to WC, as she rushes in the direction of the building that NC and the others disappeared into.

Room full of dupes, Kurt feels he needs to stop the main bodies, he'll port out to Delphine, make an attempt to grab her and do a partial port of her, taking, at least, the head/body so she can still talk, if he can get a hand on her, otherwise he'll simply end his round by porting away to a hidey spot (where the people in the room can't see him).

When attempting to grab Delphine, Kurt will feel a force field around her - just an inch off of her metallic skin.

Havok fails once again trying to climb the side of the 30' cliff to reach the level that Mirage is on. Mirage/WildChild will pass his location in her next action. He exclaims over the com, "Dammit, I'm stuck down here. I'm going to have to bodyslide back to get up this cliff."

In some cases Mirage might mind that funny, but not in this one, when she isn't sure about the situation they have gotten themselves into or the status of her other team member and how he is faring in his fight. "It might be faster or I can send Brightwind." as she says it over the comm she is already giving instructions to Brightwind should he not pick the body slide option. To go after him basically. On her way to the building she will watch over the railing to see if she can spot him through the trees and bushes, if she does she will give Brightwind an exact location if necessary.

Kurt knows he doesn't stand a chance against Delphine, he'll teleport back to regroup and assist with Havok. "They're in the engineering room, I can get someone back in to stop them ..." like via teleport, he calls over the intercomm as he ports outside, lookin for volunteers.

Reaching the door to the tunnels, WildChild and Mirage will be able to peer down an empty corridor with many branches.

Havok calls over the com, "Down here bro, I could totally use a pickup! Let's regroup outside that door then take them down before they can do any more damage."

Moments later, the team finds themselves standing outside the exterior door to the underground control center of the falls. Kurt has briefed them on the situation inside. They are currently plus-one as Rush was able to get in on the action with his timely arrival. WildChild seems to have changed sides and is now working with X-Factor, however instead of moving into the building with them, he is checking on Diamond Lil making sure she's alright.

Havok says, "Rush, you and I are on Delphine. You're gonna be my shield. Kurt, you're on Flashback and all his dupes. Dani, you've got Alec and help Kurt with the cleanup. When Rush and I bust into the room, Kurt you port Dani in. Let's do this."

With that, Havok is running down the corridor heading toward the indicated door. He'll arrive, find it closed, and waits on Rush before taking further action.

When Rush arrives, Havok will give the count, "3, 2, 1, go!" and intend for Rush to break down the door.

Rush cracks his knuckles. "More robots? Bring it." He twists back and forth at the waist, takes a few quick gulps of air and then looks at Havok. Once the boss reaches 'go' Rush charges forward, both arms raised so that his forearms connect with the door first.

With an ear down the hall, Kurt listens on the activites, as soon as he hears the door bust, or attempt ot be busted, he's bamfing into the engineering room with Dani at the ready. Not knowing where everyone has ended up, he chooses what he believes is the safest location, which might be something akin to his tail and hands holding her right side up with himself dangling from the ceiling.

Even though she has been teleported in similar fashion quite a few times in the past Mirage's stomach still hasn't gotten used to it. The quesiness isn't enough to keep her from acting. She looks about the room, checking for enemies and her target, in case he isn't immediately in line of sight.

The metal door is smashed inwards and flies across the room into a desk. Delphine turns, just out of the way of the door and spies her new targets (Rush/Havok).

Havok steps just to the side of Rush to get a shot on Delphine - he scores two solid hits on her force field which allows some of the plasma to leak through and do damage to her metallic skin. She yells, pissed and calls to her team, "Flashpoint, distract them. Alec, finish the plan, no matter what!"

Mirage and Nightcrawler get a good lay of the room from their vantage point, allowing view of all the targets with various desks and workstations in the way (but not blocking LoS).

The fact that she left her mundane bow up top where the first of this altercation started isn't much of a hindrance to Mirage. Shifting from NC, so as not to elbow him in the face or something, she goes through the motions, psychic bow and arrow manifesting in place of material ones. The arrow glows brightly, more so than the previous one, giving indication that this one is more powerful than the one she used on Lil. She quickly aims and lets it go, firing the psiarrow at Alec.

Rush freezes momentarily as everything seems to happen at once. Plasma blasts originate from someplace just out of his field of vision, thankfully aimed Delphine. A glowing arrow streak across the back of the room, again thankfully at Alex. What seem to be innocent civilian hostages huddling out of the corner of his eyes. Delphine spouting out orders makes Rush itch to run forward and try to tackle her, but Havok's instructions were to shield him, so that's what the rookie does for now.

Without hesitating, Kurt heads for the closest two Flashbacks, hopefully one being the real, he ports and maneuvers to throw a fist at each one's face without thinking about it, letting Dani work on Alec and Havok/Rush on Delphine.

Alec is struck, he screams revealing sigificant mental stress however he does not fall to the floor. He eyes Mirage and raises his right hand. Within it he reveals a glowing red circle (like a repulsor from iron man's armor). A red beam erupts from it and strikes the wall next to Mirage's head. He misses.

Kurt smacks dupes around.

Delphine blasts her Amazing red beam into Rush's chest which will do no damage to him.

Other dupes move to engage but won't make it to Mirage in time - till the next round.

Havok will blast again - missing both times. Havok then taps Rush on the shoulder and says, "Take her down!" giving Rush free reign to pummel the robotic woman. He intends to stay put allowing Rush to go hand-to-hand and in his next action he'll hold.

Kurt continues about his business, porting and attacking the two closest flashpoints. He tumbles a little defensively while he does so and mixed it up with a punch to one followed by a kick to the back of the other's head, hopefully the head kick is the real one.

If that psiarrow wasn't enough to take Smart Alec down she will have to go stronger. Mirage fires another, this twice as incandescent. She fires it hoping that NC can keep the dupes off of her. (OOC: since she was supposed to pose before him.)

Delphine looks annoyed (as much as a robot can look annoyed). She curses and sees the battle is going awry. She clasps her hands together and fires another series of blasts toward Rush. The first goes wide, the second smacks him in the chest. It does no damage, but does sting.

Two of the dupes close on Mirage and start to pummel. One misses, the other strikes. She is knocked back a foot or two (not stunned).

Alec drops this time, no scream, no whimper, just a thud.

Kurt's misfire is almost laughable as a Flashback comments, "Come on, X-Man, you can do better than that."

Rush hunches over slightly and crosses his wrists in front of his forehead, an instinctive action to shield his own face. Which is totally unecessary since the blast strikes him in the chest - and isn't powerful enough to really harm him beyond some light scorching. He hears Havok's latest call, starts to grin fiercely and then is blasted again by Delphine, this one he can tell striking right over his heart. Hey, that one would have -killed- him! he realizes. And also realizes just how serious his new 'job' really is. Stepping towards Delphine he reaches for her robotic wrists, intending to wrench them up and away so she can't keep blasting him. But that's easier said than done.

Havok focuses, targets, and blasts Delphine with a massive attack which takes down her force field and sends her into the wall. She collapses and ceases to move. This attack knocks Delphine out of Rush's hand to hand attack (but he's welcome to close on her again if he wishes).

Rush can't quite get a grasp on Delphine's wrists, his expression darkening. He balls up his hands into fists, ready to go old school on her when Havok proceeds to blast her across the room. Rush's expression turns sheepish. Then he glances from side to side and notices the figures he originally thought were hostages are actually Flashback dupes. Oops. Not a good showing for his first real field mission. But then he glances back over his shoulder at Havok, trying to play it cool. "Nice. Who's next?"

Havok responds, "Take down the Flashbacks!" being assured that Delphine isn't going to get back up.

Rush twists and almost casually launches a punch at the nearest Flashback, aiming for the gut.

The duplicate struck by Rush disappears, leaving 3 others. One nearest Kurt being the original.

The two dupes faced against Mirage strike her once again. This time she's knocked into the wall behind her (still not stunned). The third (real Flashback) goes for Kurt and misses.

Kurt focuses on the real Flashback, making numerous attacks and teleporting defensively. Mostly missing, he connects with an upside down uppercut.

The real Flashback takes the hardest attack from Kurt, knocked back a few feet, but is still in the fight.

Focusing on taking down Smart Alec leaves Mirage vulnerable to the attacks from the Flashback dupes. Getting knocked back again and then again, wincing in pain as she hits the wall. She looks from the ones attacking her, to the one(s) going after NC and targets the original, and with the pain his duplicates have caused her she isn't nioe about it, fear it is.

The original flashback screams as he sees the DreamQueen riping him asunder with her dreamy tendrils. He falls, collapses and all the dupes dissappear.

Epilogue: It is speculated (though cannot be proven) that Delphine Courtney was reengineered by Roxxon Oil Company with a new purpose. To destroy Niagara Falls power generators so Roxxon could move in and buy up large tracts of land to build a new power grid. However, Delphine's memory units were erased by Havok's massive blow and thus everything is guesswork on Smart Alec's part.

Omega Flight was mentally subverted by new upgrades of Dephine's robotic mind causing them to operate without knowledge or memory of their actions. Department H's public relations department is all over the incident and Pierre Noblitt addresses the public with apologies and a great cover story that the team was under the control of a mad robot that will never surface again. Bla bla bla.

In the end, Omega Flight thanks X-Factor for their good work. Once again, X-Factor has saved the day.
