==[ Horse Yard - Xavier Estate ]==

A large wooden and steel fence surrounds the area and is linked to the stables on both ends. Gates divide the various horse yards and offer an expanse of scores of acres over a sparsely wooded area; Offering lots of land for grazing. Many of the horses are seen doing horse things all throughout.

Students are responsible for the chores involving the horses; while there are stable hands, the students are required to do rotations in their learning cycle.

The path to the south east returns to the mansion and there are various trails from this location all throughout the estate forest. Also in this area are the stables, proper.

==========================================================================

It is Tuesday morning and a brisk breeze sweeps through the horse yard of the Xavier Estate. It is winter and it is cold. Despite the bitter cold, the day is sunny and bright. Those used to the cold, may actually enjoy this nature and enjoy the natural environment of the campus.

Despite the bright weather, an eerie fog starts to sweep through from outside the campus and makes its way towards the horse yard. It is think and ominous. A crow caws overheard. An usual sight for a bird to be out on this cold winter s day.

Having been raised in the mountainous regions of the mid-west Dani is used to such winter weather and wears the appropiate clothing to keep warm. The cold weather certainly didn't keep her from enjoying a morning pre-school starting horse back ride. When the fog starts to roll in she is unsaddling a mare in the yard and preparing to rub her down. Even in the cold the horse managed to work up a sweat do to the extensive riding the woman is used to.

Lifting her head at the calling of the crow, Dani curiously sends a mental query to the creature, to determine its unseasonable appearance. The fog is not noted as if yet.

As the misty fog rolls in, the horse that Dani is brushing is suddenly frozen still unmoving. The more the mist rolls in, any creatures nearby by suffer a similar fate as they are paralyzed, frozen in the mystery mist, including the horses in the stable.

The crow swoops down and flies directly over Mirage s head and circles. As she is able to reach out mentally to the bird, it responds loudly in a human voice outside of the telepathy, "Danielle Moonstar, I am Black Crow."

As the horse freezes statue like, Dani looks down breifly at the fog swirling across the ground. She is quick to put the crow's arrival and the fog together. The crow speaking solidifies her theory that the two are connected. "You were at Liberty Island." she states plainly as her attention moves back to the corvine like entity "When Nanabozho made his appearance.

It's cold, so Janie had picked a thick down jacket - one of the little clothes she did got herself. Heck, she didn't managed to use the full stipend she had been given in more than 4 months, where it was calculated for one. Why should she use money to buy new cloth when second hand clothes were as good as new after a bit work? Even if rarely seen outdoors, she had picked her boots, going out to the stables. She didn't really expect people there, maybe trying to find solitude. As she however saw someone riding and someone else, she stopped to watch at first.

To those just arriving, Mirage stands outside in the horse yard next to an unmoving horse. There is an ominous mist swirling any creature except for Mirage and the crow flying overhead are paralyzed, though the mist has yet to touch Thimble.

The crow responds to Dani, "That is correct. At the time I was under his thrall. Thanks to you and your friends intervention, that is not the case for the moment." The bird drops from the sky and lands on the solid ground transforming from bird to human. Black Crow appears and looks directly at Mirage, "Despite your unusual nature of half Cheyenne nature mixed with the Asgardian Valkryor, I have faith you have not abandoned your true heritage." He knows Thimble is present and near but does not yet address her though his paralyzing mist is closing in on her.

Thimble eyes the scene, searching for something in her pocket, pulling out a black roll of yarn as she pulls the hand out. Mist was nothing uncommon in this area, but not with the cold weather. Too dry. Stepping half a step back she tried to evade contact at first, eying what happens there. Asgardian? hell, that thor guy was said to be one, but he is a media star and alien... or something. "Miss Moonstar?" she speaks up eventually. She didn't knew too much more than that about Danielle, but she was staff after all. Unlike the person who was standing there. the former crow.

Dani's eyes narrow and her brow furrows, she will assume he speaks of her dual nature as Cheyenne/Asgardian and didn't just call her a half breed, "Be careful of your phrasing, some may find that to be insulting." and she probably would have in her teen years, but she isn't the angry teenager she used to be "The demands of the valkyrie aren't so pressing here on Midgard, so I don't find it to hard to balance the two." with the animals in the vicinity frozen by the fog she is unaware of Thimble's approach until she speaks up "Janie?" she says in some suprise as her name is called by the girl.

"I meant not insult." Black Crow bows his head in formal apology, "While you have managed to work through your dual nature with the Anasazi, some are still displeased and would use that as reason enough to war with the Asgardians, however, some of the Anasazi focus now on Midgard." When Janie speaks, the mist seems to shrink back away from her and quickly starts to dissipate in the area as it leaves all the animals touched by it are no longer paralyzed.

Thimble slowly steps closer, the hand pressed closed around the roll of yarn. Slightly she nodded at the older woman, reverting to her usual silence. As the mist vanishes suddenly she narrows her eyes, fixing her view onto the unknown man. "All ok?" she eventually asks, closing in to the horse.

Not wanting to have the horse be a distraction, Dani gives it a pat on the side, sending it back to the stables for the workers there to deal with. "It's okay Janie, this is Black Crow, he is an ally, so to speak." after the aside to the girl her attention focuses back on the man "The Demon Bear is especially unhappy with it. Maybe he is goading the others.

"Perhaps, though I am sure if he is not already involved, than he will be." Upon being introduced to Janie, Black Crow bows his head again formally, "Janie, nice to meet you?" Looking over the school grounds, "I see your home has expanded to incorporate more of the mutant children. Charles Xavier would be proud and we are proud to consider him forever an ally." He returns his gaze to Dani and her student.

Thimble eyes the unknown man, opening her hand to drop the roll of yarn, the string rolling down, the end slinging around her finger. Or did she had her finger slung through a loop when she had dropped it? "I am not a mutant." she comments drily, her eyes pulling streight the man clad in bronze and black. Line an accent to her statement the plastic core of the yarnroll meets the floor, clicking once, twice before it rolls for nearly a yard.

Blindfold came along tapping her cane along the ground. Tilting her head side to side to pinpoint the voices, specially the unknown one.

"More and more of them are showing themselves and are in need of positive role models and proper training." Dani responds as she looks back toward the main building. Realizing that some people aren't comfortable with the mutant term, she does contradict Janie's assertion that she isn't a mutant "We have even expanded to take in some non-mutant students." she comments, perhaps at Janie's prompting.

The three all stand in the horse yard on a brisk morning prior to classes starting.

"Let's hope he is not part of this one. Dealing with the vengeful gods is more than enough for me.

"Well then Xavier's dream is truly being fulfilled." He smiles and nods his head to Janie, "I apologize. I misspoke. But it is nice to see one such as yourself with the students here." He turns to see Blindfold approaching and nods his head though when he realizes she is blind, he loudly welcomes her, "Come, child. I am Black Crow."

Thimble eyes her teacher, Shaking her head slowly. "Not what I meant. I am no mutant. I am gifted." she states, accenting the very last word by pulling up the string slung around her finger with a fast gesture, resulting in a rapid lengthening of the free string, the spindle rolling forward to free even more of the thin black string. Roling into the direction of the one who was stated to be an ally. But how can you be an ally when you insult your partners?

"Ah there is more to this one that meets the eye. For you see where others cannot." He bows his head once again in respect to Blindfold, "Truer words have not been spoken." Black Crow looks between the students and looks to Blindfold. He extends his hand out to shake, "Please accept my hand in greeting." (repose)

Blindfold smiles toward him "I am a mutant but no better then anyone else, thank you yes. I just see the past and future sometimes, please yes" bowing her head to him again before gripping black crow's hand gently and tilting her head "Death...murder...slaughter...destruction...native American gods" sniffling as her lip trembles with a sad expression

"One does not preclude the other Janie." Dani starts to explain, though stops when Ruth offers a much simplier one as she walks up "Yes, Ruth I think sees better than most of us a majority of the time." she doesn't add in the 'even though she is blind' part feeling it both unnecessary and probably rude. "I doubt you dropped by just to see the school, what is your true reason for being here?" a nod is made toward Ruth as she 'sees' what's been going on.

Thimble gives her teacher a hard look, the spindle with the yarn rising more. This is likely one of the first displays of her powers to others. including her new roomie. "one is an insult. The other a fact." she speaks up.

Having guessed what the girl could do, she validates his guess when he offers his hand and when she recounts whats she sees, Black Crow looks to Mirage, "They are coming, Moonstar. They seek vengeance. And while your words assuaged Nanabozho once, I fear it will take more than words to stop him and the others. He has already recruited Hotamintanio to his side and has captured Calumet. More in Shipolo will fall to him until he has acquired enough support to lead his armies to Midgard."

If what Black Crow hasn't said wasn't dire, Dani would probably point out to Janie that its all subjective, but instead she frowns at the news she is given, "Perhaps then we shouldn't wait for him to lobby for that support. Instead we should go on the offensive and take the battle to them.

"Perhaps, I have already warned the Avengers and the New Warriors. I have also tested a select group of heroes who I feel would prove useful against the Anasazi." Black Crow looks up to the sky and sighs loudly as he suddenly transforms back into his crow form, "We have allies waiting, but I thought I should deliver the message to you personally." He flies up, "I will be in touch soon."

Blindfold nods "New York in ruins and any non native American was being killed, I'm sorry yes" it wasn't necessary to say that it was the future and not the past, that was obvious. "Mutant can be used as an insult but it is fact as well, it is far better then being called freaks, yes thank you" sniffling as she tried to shake what she saw, getting hysterical wouldn't help. Smiling she nods her head with a wave to black crow.

Thimble eyes the man that was called a god by Blindfold and then her teacher, the spindle still rotating on hip height where she had lifted it. uo to a degree where it was not demanding to keep it, as she had the line to it. "Horrible." she simply comments, not stating if it was about the words double meaning or the picture. To her it was obvious - even if humanity in grand did not do her well and she disliked much of its behavior, even masses of people just for being a big group at once, she disliked the idea of mass murder. "What helps against such anyway?"

Dani nods "Thanks." as the man departs on the wing. A hand comes up to pinch the bridge of her nose. She has dealt with wars between mortals and gods before both recent and in the past. She obviously doesn't like the thought of another one "Powerful allies with strong ties. Hopefully the groups he was called in plus the X-Men will be enough to stand against what the native gods have planned."

Blindfold nods solemnly "It will be a tragedy if it's not, yes sorry. What can we do to help miss moostar, please if you don't mind my asking?"

Thimble mutters at the word "the X-Men... Cyclops, Storm and those?" she asks, naming some of the more notable one. well, the only ones she could pin down.

"There isn't much that can be done now, besides planning. I'll have to meet with the Avengers and the New Warriors soon," Dani sighs at the thought "to get us all on the same page as to how to deal with the situation." with each team having different ways to handle things it is going to take a strong person to get them all in agreement, "Cyclops and Storm, amoung many others, yes.

Blindfold nods understanding that was as nice a way as it could possibly be to say this problem is to big for kids. "Then let's hope for the best, yes please. There are abundant agreements for both views, neither is entirely just, it is one of many bad times in history, sorry my apologies yes"

Thimble nods slowly, understanding the point in naming the bigshots. "Do the plans involve others too? Us?" she eventually asks, stretching the hand out to her spindle of yarn which rolls the string back up. Not too useful in combat, but a neat trick anyway.

"It's to early to say. If the need is great enough I won't hesitate to call on one or more of the older students." of all the faculty Dani is probably one of the few that would readily do so. Probably because by the time she was 17 she had dealt with Brood, was an Asgardian Valkyrie, and nearly died at the hands of a deity...and not specifically in that order and dealt with a lot more than just that "Though if any of the students are to be involved it will most likely be the newly formed New Mutants. Speaking of which, Janie stop by my office after lunch today so you can get your requisition form for a New Mutants uniform. I think you have been her long enough to finally participate in something besides classes.

Thimble eyes her teacher "uniform? I have one uniform. This blue and yellow thing. They said it's for special sports... never had that on my shedule though..." she remarks. Standard training uniform so to say. "or you mean something different?"

Blindfold smiles keeping quiet as mirage spoke with thimble. no need for her to butt in to this part of the conversation.

Shaking her head "No, I mean a different uniform, black and yellow, the New Mutant's uniform. Ms. Grey has reinstated the student team. You will be joining the ranks with Richenda, Cessily, and Ruth." she makes a gesture to Blindfold "There will be others joining, once I decide who those others will be.

Thimble eyes Mirage a long time "Student team?" she asks to clarify. She had heard rumors about the X-Men operationg from here, but those were mostly hard to believe. "like Sports? what good is a sports team against an Apocalypse."

Blindfold shakes her head "More like a crime fighting team like the X-Men whom many are our teachers or x-factor, yes sorry, the uniform you have is for combat training and danger room sessions" doing her head add she feel silent with a look on her face like she felt she was out of line speaking up.

"Not at all like a sports team." Dani gives another shake of her head "Or the New Warriors." she nods to what Ruth has said after adding her own comparasion, she has no problem with the girl speaking up, she is on the team after all "The New Mutants don't go after the same level of criminal as X-Factor or X-Men do, but it certainly prepares them for it should they decide to go to those teams after graduation.

Thimble listens, pondering about it. "Criminals... I don't mind helping stop apokalypse, but I don't see the point fishing the small fish. Big fish. go for the big fish." she remarks. "I will come to the office."

Blindfold grins shyly toward mirage "The big fish are too big for us just yet, sometimes you have to work your way up, even the small fish are a problem to people, people we can help, yes thank you"

Nodding at Thimble's agreement she gives the young woman a grin "And there are the ocassions where we need those little fish as bait for the big ones." she glances at her watch with a grimace "Classes start in an hour, don't be late. I have to go get ready myself." with that she heads off in the direction of the mansion.
