-----==[ Mutant Diner - Mutant Town ]==---------------------------------------

The Mutant Diner is a refirb of a former establishment called Mel's which was an expansion from the original Mel's in the Bronx. It still has most of the original fixtures with some minor updates or recoverings.

From it's vinyl booths that stick to your thighs if there's no layer of cloth between it and your skin, the laminate topped tables and chrome finishing it's as if the 50's never quite died here. Even the waitresses look like throwbacks (or maybe it's their mutation gone horribly wrong), some even look like they might have even been here when it first opened. The cook in the back can be seen through the opening, slapping together your meal, and sock hop music plays over hidden speakers. You may not want to eat here when you walk in, but if you take the gamble and sit down, it's the best greasy spoon you'll ever have sat in, and makes some of the finest simple, no frills coffee this side of the Hudson.

Breakfast at the Mutant Diner. Instead of grabbing something at the tower, Alex had the idea of coming down to the diner and invited Kurt. There they sit having delicious breakfast foods when Alex states, "I ran into Psylocke the other day." <dunt dunt dunnhha>

"Just running around, or do you mean at the mansion," ponders Kurt, getting some german sausage and eggs for his breakfast (or whatever sausage they're offering. "I had heard something from Blindfold about Ms. Braddock being back, I tried to get clarification ... on which one, that made it confusing for Ruth."

"She came to the tower to /talk/." Alex notes after swallowing and having some iced sweet tea through a straw. "You know, /talk/ about what happened a few months back."

"Wait a second," says Kurt suspiciously eying his friend with those yellow eyes of his. "I thought you told me the moment of weakness was with Jeanne-Marie ... are you telling me there was something with ...."

"What?" Asks Alex before he realizes where the question was going... "No ohno. Not with Betsy. Dude, you remember the whole situation where Lorna and Betsy ran off to England together? Well, Bets apologized and told me about Lorna's current situation."

Feigning more shock, holding back a grin still, Kurt asks, "Lorna dumped Betsy for Elizabeth? Oi, this is confusing, I don't know about your kind ... mutants." He takes a bite of sausage, grinning, wondering if Alex will give him more room to make implications, or if he'll tell him the real situation.

Before realizing Kurt is teasing, Alex gets a twisted look about his face and says, "No." then realizes and adds, "...you ass." He recovers and then chuckles, "Anyway, What ever corrupted Terry infected Betsy which in turn infected Lorna... Bets implied that Liz was able to help straighten everything out. Which is why Bets is back and Lorna's staying in England a bit longer... Personally I think it's embarassment on Lorna's side.

Forking up some eggs at the moment, containing his grin, Kurt favors Alex with a serious look. "That makes it a predicament. Where do you stand in this fruend? I mean, has anything developed with Dani, or are your feelings for Lorna and are you hopeful on this 'recover' thing."

"Nothing's developed with Dani." Alex says somewhat flatly. He reflects and shrugs, "I'm not complaining, not disappointed. It just is what it is. I'm pretty sure that Dani and I aren't going anywhere and neither of us seem affected by it."

"So, this affection and recovery of Lorna, its good news for you," he asks, as its good news for Kurt, but he never had that sort of relationship with the woman either. "Are we going to be visiting the Braddock Mansion any time soon," he further questions for clarification.

Shrugging again, Alex leans back against the chair and contemplates for a moment, "Really. After all the drama that comes with crazy - I'm kinda not feeling it."

Kurt gives a nod, doesn't stop much with his food except when talking. "Over the drama, flying solo ... clubs, nightlife, that sort of thing? Staying single longterm before jumping into that boat again ..."

"Dude, I don't have a plan. Speaking of plans, hows it with Kitty? I mean you jumped in a few months back... it still all cake and ice cream?"

Grinning, Kurt nods his head, "It is indeed ... but we're both on the less serious side of life. Like if Rush is oggling on Kat in a bikini, we can talk about it, not like I'm getting jealous - or if I'm giving Ruth private sword lessons up at the Mansion. Like that song, save the last dance for me."

"Hang on, what? Dude, you're boffing the blind girl?" Asks Alex as the wheels just went off the train of thought.

Kurt has to struggle to keep himself from letting food out, the fit to chuckle overcoming him. He shakes his head, chews then swallows. "No, no funny side business. More like, if a girl looks at me, or a boy looks at Kitty, not like we're getting jealous. Dancing wasn't metaphorical for boffing, more like, doesn't matter what you, just at the end of the night, we're sharing the same bed."

"Oooh, I thought you were implying that your private sword lessons were, well not the foil kind, but the other sword that pokes around in the dark. Then again, it's always dark for her, so yeah. Sword lessons..."

Still grinning, Kurt nods, "I appreciate the sentiment, I meant more that we trust each other. Not like I'm going to get 20 questions everytime I go up there - Kitty knows where my dark sword really goes. I'm not going to question her if she says she's going to the library or dancing with Logan. That sort of trust."

Alex grins and leaves it at that, cause he does't want to envision the dark sword. "Cool." is all that comes out as a response.

"Ok, Logan's a stretch, more I trust him not to try anything funny ... I mean, insert random hot guy #5, I'd still trust her." Kurt takes a drink of his milk, washes down the sausage, ponders more eggs. "You know, the concept of serious relationship is always, what time you coming home, where have you been, when do we have along time ... that thing, there's not schedules, we don't monitor each other is what I mean."

"Then I guess I'm in a serious relationship all the time. Cause that to me sounds like 'I don't give a shit what you do cause I got my own thing going.'." Alex speculates and offers his angle on Kurt's statements.

"Sure, something like that," agrees Kurt, "But we make effort to spend time together, we just don't require it of each other and, at the end of the night, we know where we'll both be."

"Asleep." comments Alex regarding the last aspect of the 'where they will both be'. In his case, asleep in his own bed and he's happy with that.

He offers a change of gears and offers an agreeable tone to Kurt's situation with one simple word, "Cool." and will be done with breakfast.
