Born to rich man Wendell Rand and his wife Heather Duncan Rand, Danny had the normal silver spoon in his mouth.
Father spent more time bringing up his fininancial empire than he did with his own son, however that was changed when he decided to bring the family on a trip to China?
Trip wasn't really to China though, it was to Tibet, to find the fabeled city of K'un Lun, Wendell studied there before and left, he decided to come back.
Wendell's business partner, Harold Meachum was with the Rand's for the trip, betrayed Wendell and killed him while Danny and Heather watched.
Danny and Heather managed to get away from Harold who then went back home, while Danny and Heather were chased by wolves. Heather sacrificed herself to save her son, who was then brought to K'un Lun.
At K'un Lun he was trained in the Martial Arts, but because of his outworlder status, he had only two friends, Miranda and Conal.
Trained more in Martial Arts, earned the right to challenge for the role of Iron Fist. Shortly before that learned that Miranda learned Martial Arts from Conal which was forbidden, so watched as only two friends left K'un Lun and were never seen again. (PS Miranda was his sister, Danny just didn't know it until the day she left.)
Danny won the right to challenge Shou-Lao the Undying, and after defeating him and getting the dragon shaped burn in his chest, he plunged both hands into the dragon's molten heart and became Iron Fist!
Around a year after that at the age of 19, Danny won the right to either become an Immortal of K'un Lun or to leave and return to Earth, he chose to go to Earth once more for his revenge on Harold Meachum.
He came, beat all the traps that Harold set up for him, and approached Harold in his office. Found out he could not kill the man, however someone else chose to and Danny was blamed.
On the run he first met Colleen Wing and her grandfather, they helped to hide him for a bit, and he eventually cleared his name, proving it was the evil being known as The Ninja who killed Harold Meachum.
Danny had some more adventures as Iron Fist, saving Colleen after she was kidnapped by Master Khan, and The Ninja. That was when he first met Misty Knight as well.
Shortly after that he helped Misty who had someone named Bushman after her, that was his first time working with Luke Cage. Together they were able to beat Bushman who is thought to be dead.
Luke and Danny worked together for a while after that, forming Heroes for Hire, no job too big, no price too big or small.
Calm: Usual martial arts thing here, he is a calm individual. He tries not to let things get to him cause he knows if he does bad things will happen. So he works on trying to keep his emotions in check. Sure there are times he fails (see Temper) but for the most time he won't let things get to him.
Honor: There is that old saying; there is nothing if you don't have your honor. Danny does believe that one as well. He will go to great lengths to make sure his honor is intact, especially when it comes to the power of the Iron Fist. Even if it means fighting someone one on one when it looks like there is no chance for Danny to win.
Compassion: The man does care about others more than he does himself at times. It's the big reason that he decided to make his Thunder Dojo. Plus when one considers that he is a Hero for Hire he has a tendency to do a lot more work for free than he does for money. He cares about people, he always will, there is nothing that will change his mind about that.
Temper: Yeah to contradict his calm nature the boy does have a temper, hey he is still young after all. His temper doesn't just come for everything thing; it's just matters he views in a strong personal nature. The biggest example of such things are his friends and loved ones, if harm comes to them, Danny does have a tendency to get mad at things.
Heroic: Danny is your typical hero; he is willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good no questions asked. He has never questioned that aspect of him, and has never thought about questioning it. In his own way, he is something like Captain America, sure not as Iconic, but Danny has minor powers, but still goes out and faces foes much stronger than him, and he only does it because it's the right thing for him to do.
Friends: Danny keeps his friends exceptionally close to him for one major reason; he doesn't want to lose them. Danny lost a lot of people that have been close to him over the years, and doesn't want to risk losing any more. Because of this he does get a little annoying with his friends and loved ones as he tries to protect them.
Driven: One of those personality traits that aren't a constant for him, but when he really goes on a personal mission he can go days without sleeping. Heck there are even times he ignores all comforts if it gets in his way. He's needed others to tell him that it is time to get some sleep, and in some instances force it upon him. He just doesn't realize what he is doing at those times; he just goes out and does what he needs to do.
IRON FIST:
The power that has been the signature of K'un Lun's Immortal Weapon, the power of the IRON FIST. Though that is really just a bad name for it, cause based on what Danny has been able to do with his fist, it's more like the Titanium or Diamond Fist really. On top of that, it isn't even just one fist, both of his hands have the power. By focusing his Chi into his fist, it becomes like unto a thing of IRON! Basically the chi gives Danny the ability, to strength his fist, so that nothing can harm it. The chi also acts as a shock absorber for the rest of his arm, which allows him to punch through things like a steel wall, vault door, or even the tail of a freaking helicopter. So in laymans terms, the fist hurts, don't get hit by it. When using the Iron Fist, Danny's hand does glow with a red/yellow color. The light itself is also helpful as he has been known to use it to light up some dark places when needed.
HEALING:
Broken bones, cuts, bruises, even being poisoned, the Immortal Iron Fist fears not these things! And the reason he fears not these things, he can focus his chi into healing himself. This isn't a healing factor like Wolverine or Deadpool however, this is something that needs to be activitated. Once he is able to activate it, he can heal almost any injury, except for like death you know. Of course Danny does need to have his energy full to heal, and the process is rather painful.
On top of healing himself, Iron Fist is able to heal others as well, however that actually takes a lot more time than it does for Danny to heal himself. This only seems to work for physical injuries though when he uses it, but they are healed rather rapidly. A person who was near death was able to survive, sadly they were in a coma for a little bit after words though. However others with more minor physical injuries healed rather quickly. But this is even more draining on Danny than healing himself is, so only used in the most dire circumstances.
ABILITY INCREASE:
While focusing his chi, Danny is able to increase his own physical abilities. When doing this he reaches the peak of human perfection, in things like strength, speed, agility, and good looks. He is able to do the increase for a period of 15 minutes, after that he got nothing. But during that 15 minutes, Danny is able to kick muy ass, so watch out!
MIND MELD:
This is Danny's most seldom used power to this date it has only been used once by him. When doing this, Iron Fist merges mind with a person, knowing all of their memories, thoughts, dark little secrets, everything. However the downside of this power is that the person he uses it on also learns all of Danny's little secrets. So this is why it is the most seldom used powers, since it runs the risk of revealing his identity to others
MARTIAL_ARTS:
Danny Rand is the best Martial Artist in a fabeled mythical city that specializes in Martial Arts, to put it bluntly the kid is good. Danny is in fact one of the better martial artists in the world, heck he could have great movies if he wanted to. But of course he craves not those things, he just likes to fight. Well okay he doesn't fight for the sake of fighting, but he constantly keeps himself in shape, and hires people to spare against him so his skills don't get rusty. Danny has been shown fighting entire legions of Hydra agents, and still winning, so his is skilled enough to do well almost anything. On top of the pure fighting of the Martial Arts, Danny was also trained in the philosophy of it. This means trying not to fight, and all of that little jazz as well.
STRIKE_POINTS:
Knowing how to hit isn't nearly as important as knowing where to hit to cause the most damage. Because of this he has studied human anatomy extensively. He is well aware of all the pressure points on a body, and knows the proper way to hit them to cause desired results to a person. He has displayed hits that cause temporary paralysis in a person, or even ones that KO them outright. On top of the striking points, there are also special holds that Danny has learned that would cause pain, or just KO a person.
BUSINESS:
While not a business genius like Tony Stark, Danny is still learning after all, he is very good at it. While he only had a small hand in running Rand-Meachum, and that was very brief. But he learned enough about the business world to be able to hold his own when he needs to. He'd just rather not need to use it.
ACROBATICS:
Another wonderful thing that the nice people of K'un Lun taught Mr. Rand, the art of being nimble, quick and just acrobatic. Danny has a skill at this that would make any Olympic level acrobat just wet themselves. Flips, cartwheels, various other things, he can do them all, and in fact routinely does, but he does his while running around the rooftops of the City or fighting for his life. See lets see an Olympic athlete do that, they just have to stick with the mats and stuff.
STEALTH:
Ninjutsu is an aspect of the K'un Lun training, and the highest thing emphasized in it is of course stealth. As such Danny has learned to move around a place without being seen or heard when he wants to be. While this isn't a skill he uses that much, he is still highly trained at it, having even been able to sneak around people with enhanced senses such as Sabretooth in the past.
WEAPONS:
One of those skills that Iron Fist doesn't use as much, but does like to keep himself sharp in. Standard for all K'un Lun warriors, even those that are going to be the Living Weapon, is how to use weapons. He has been trained in all weapons that are used in the martial arts, such as swords, nun chucks, throwing stars, even spears. Since he does not prefer to use them though he never carries around weapons with him, but can use those picked up from others.
K'UN_LUN_KNOWLEDGE:
Danny Rand is one of the few people alive in the regular world that has actually seen or been to K'un Lun. As such he is one of the world's leading authorities on the subject. Of course he doesn't tell many people that, as most of the world just think he was taken in by nice monks when his family was lost. But there are people that know where he really was, and if they need information of the fabled city, he's the guy to go to.
RAND-MEACHUM INC:
Wendell Rand owned 60 percent of the stock of Rand-Meachum, when Wendell and Heather Rand died, that stock passed to Danny. While he recently gave up the voting rights of the stock, he still gets money from the company, just doesn't run it or anything. Rand-Meachum is a variety company though, that has been known to manufacture transportation vehicles, and is also a large real estate holder, something like half the buildings in New York are owned by Rand-Meachum. So the company keeps making money, and Danny keeps getting it, on top of that he can get access to all of their resources if needed, such as planes.
LUKE CAGE:
Danny's partner, best friend, and all around good guy, that's Luke in a nutshell. They have worked together before, heck they even owned Heroes for Hire together. They are the type that no matter what happens, they will always be there for each other. Sure they can go their separate ways, not even see each other for a year or two, but one call and they are working together again.
MISTY KNIGHT:
Danny's on again, and off again girlfriend. They talk, they date, they break up, they have one night stands, etc, but they will always be close. Even during breakup phases these two have been known to go to the ends of the Earth for each other. Even if they don't get back together again, they will be friends to the end.
COLLEEN WING: R
The first friend that Danny made when he came to New York after leaving K'un Lun. The two of them know more about each other than any two people should know, since this is the only person to date that Danny has done his Mind Meld on. This gives them a special bond that he doesn't have with anyone else. Also one night during a fun night of drinking with Misty and Colleen…
MONEY:
A gift from his wonderful father, is all the money that Danny has inherited. The Rand family are Billionaires by now, and that all went to Danny when he came back to New York. Danny will never have to worry about money again. So even though he's trying to learn the value of earning it and stuff, well he still doesn't worry.
K'UN LUN:
What Danny doesn't know is that he should be the actual leader of K'un Lun, however he is not. Now he is aware that there are other ways to get there besides waiting 10 years, but those ways are few and far between (he doesn't know about the Randall Gate). But when he's there he gets all sorts of cool shit cause he's the Iron Fist and stuff. But hey he doesn't get to go there that often.
HOUSE:
The Rand house is actually issued landmark status by New York. It has nothing to do with anything famous happening there or anything, but because of how freaking nice the damn thing is. The house is one of the last remaining real houses on Riverside Drive in the Upper West Side of New York, and is overly spacious. Numerous bedrooms, an actual Dojo in the basement for Danny to train himself in, kitchens, dens, living rooms, you name it the house has it.
THUNDER DOJO:
Danny's own little goodwill project, is located right in Harlem thanks to Luke's suggestions. He owns it, well actually a charitable company he set up owns it, and keeps the place running. Danny actually teaches there when he can, just to give the kids a place to go other than turning to gangs or bad things in the area.
STRIKING SURFACES:
Danny has spent considerable time making sure that his major striking surfaces, his hands and feet, are calloused and extremely hard. Part of his training was throwing these things in buckets of rocks, until they became as hard as they needed to be. This helps him cause when he hits someone it's harder on them, and it makes his moves doo more damage than a regular person would.
SENSES:
Well he doesn't have Superhuman senses or anything, but his senses have been trained to be at the highest level a human can be at. On top of that, training in K'un Lun involved learning how to fight without the eyes, so in case something happens to them, Iron Fist is still a dangerous opponent.
NERVOUS SYSTEM:
Some great and wonderful training of the Martial Arts is the ability to control one's nervous system. Thanks to this training Iron Fist is able to ignore such things like pain that happens to his body. On top of ignoring the pain, Danny is also able to enter a deathlike state, one that has even fooled people with enhanced senses like Daredevil before. His body will flat line for a brief moment, but then starts right back up again, but that brief moment is enough to fool people.
EMOTION CHANNELING:
People always say such things like an angry opponent is a stupid opponent, Danny has proved time and time again such sayings aren't always true. See instead of letting the anger, or other emotions cloud his judgment in a fight, Danny just lets it fuel his fighting spirit. So instead of making himself a stupid opponent, he just goes on to be a more dangerous one. He has even fueled his fighting during such times as Misty or Colleen have gotten hurt by one of his enemies, so the normal anger stuff on regular people doesn't seem to work on him.
YELLOW BOOTIES:
Danny Rand wears little yellow booties, he has even worn this in Harlem, at Night, walking the streets by himself. Again, Yellow Booties, Harlem, White Guy, Night time?that says a lot about a person.
BULLET DODGING: Iron Fist can dodge bullets, nuff said.
MARTIAL ARTS MOVIES: So you know those moves in the martial arts movies that seem impossible to do? Such as running along walls, and all sorts of fun stuff? For Danny those things are a way of life.
EXHAUSTION:
Some people seem to believe that Danny can only use his Chi based abilities once a day, that is actually inaccurate, it is just tiring as hell to use it rapidly. Now cause of that Danny does try to use it only once, but on certain occasions can use it twice if needed. But the real thing, even if Danny hasn't used the Iron Fist in a while and he's tired as all hell, he still can't use it. So he does need to be careful about tiredness and using the Iron Fist.
ENEMIES:
Danny has made a few enemies already, such folks as Master Khan, the Ninja, and even Chaka a leader of gangs in Chinatown. Not to mention there are enemies that he doesn't even know about yet, such as the Steel Serpent, Ward Meachum and even Yu Tai the August Personage in Jade from K'un Lun. So Danny has to be careful, or else he can end up dead.
RECHARGING TIME:
As mentioned in the exhaustion trait, Danny's Chi powers do need to recharge after time. Certain things are pretty standard, he can only heal his body once per day, and after that he is pretty tired, almost barely able to stand usually, but has been known to force himself to do so, even fight after it. But for the rest there is no standard, just how he feels and his own energy levels. But well it doesn't change the fact that he does need to let his chi rest after using his own abilities.
FAMILY: Danny watched as his parents died, and later saw his own sister head out to her death, to say that family means something to him is saying to little. He still feels that there is some type of family out there, and well they can easily be used against him. But until he finds his family, Danny still thinks that he's alone in the world, not realizing that his friends are in their own way his surrogate family.
