Character Details
Alison Blaire was born the daughter of a lawyer and an entertainer. Her mother, the entertainer, left her father because of constant clashes with the man. Unfortunately that was also to be Alison's fate; as she grew older and performing became more attractive, her father attempter to assert his control over her life. Even after the manifestation of her mutant power during a high school performance bolstered her nascent career, he would not support the promising developments that she had made. However, her grandmother — her father's mother — supported her choice, and Alison continued to develop her voice and her musical talents.
After completing her undergraduate degree, at her graduation she made her decision. She decided to strike out on her own, with her musical career, with or without the support of her father. Essentially divorcing herself from his support, she began to do various shows, which were smashing successes due to her real vocal talent and her mutant ability, promoted as technological wizardry. However, it also meant that she was spotted by both Emma Frost and Charles Xavier, both of whom sent emissaries to recruit her for their respective sides, Xavier's more peaceful than Frost's. After a brief clash, Alison turned them both down, feeling she was not yet ready for the commitment and wanted to concentrate on her career.
Her career, however, had its ups and downs. It seemed that various supervillains wished to make things rough for Dazzler, and somehow she seemed to be unable to get out of the spotlights she didn't want. Eventually, due to a few unscrupulous talent managers and some bad luck, she ended up joining the X-Men for a stint, changing her image and going underground. Her career was put on hold. She even seemed to find a romantic interest in Longshot, but all of this soon dried up as well. After a series of relentless disasters and bad luck, just like what had plagued her singing career, she found herself with no other choice but to go through the Siege Perilous.
It started her anew, amnesic in many ways, and she was found by her friends and former bandmates, Lily Cheney and Guido. With their support, she has begun the long process of healing, trying to recover her memories, and more importantly resuming her career and achieving her dreams, whatever it takes.
