Character Details

No one other than Arcade has any real clue as to Miss Locke's background. It's also quite possible that even he doesn't know where his partner in murder and other shenanigans comes from. Or even what her first name might be. Despite all this, Miss Locke has managed to get hired by the world's premiere assassin as his right hand man... err, woman, whatever. Miss Locke has a great deal of sophistication, so it is possible that she came from an upper crust background.

Miss Locke was originally hired by Arcade in the 70s, back when assassination was making a big comeback after all the peace/love/drugs of the late 60s. She was hired after following an advert in the paper which pointed her to a meeting at a run-down old carnival. Unbeknownst to her, she was to be the victim in Arcade's latest murder. However, the former socialite had more brains than her family gave her credit. She managed to survive Murderworld, the first person to have done so, and made her way to the control room, where she met the mysterious Mr. A., Arcade. Delighted at her ability to survive, the two set up their unholy partnership to kill as many people for the most amount of money whilst simultaneously having as much fun humiliating them and killing them as possible.

Unlike her flamboyant employer, Miss Locke has never been arrested, nor has she ever been incarcerated in a mental facility. As far as the government is concerned, she is a wanted felon. However, as they cannot actually pin any crimes on her, they are forced to leave her alone. She is generally the mastermind behind Arcade's various escapes from the various facilities he keeps getting locked up in. She has always been careful to make sure that the police-types don't get any dirt on her, or are able to find her or her employer if they don't wish it.

One of the most fun things Miss Locke ever does is spend one day a year trying to kill her employer. On Arcade's birthday, the pair pit themselves against each other in a battle of wits and technology. Every year, he wins, thus proving his superiority to her.

In the past, the duo has taken on a number of superpowered folks, mostly mutants, but sometimes not. For her employer, she's gone out and kidnapped loved ones of the X-Men (Illyana, Moira, etc.), poisoned others (Storm), delivered ultimata, and basically spent most of her time furthering the boss' latest plans against the Xers, when not killing mundanes for cash with him. In her tenure as Murderworld's #2, she's hassled members of the X-Men and Excalibur, up to and including being all sweet to Lockheed and convincing him to let her go.
